V CAST Media Manager Helps Customers Manage Media Between Their Computers And Verizon Wireless PhonesVerizon Wireless said today it is offering its customers a new tool, V CAST Media Manager, to help them manage photos, videos, and music between their wireless phones and PCs. V CAST Media Manager is powered by a customized version of QuickLink Media Software from Smith Micro Software, Inc., a leading developer and marketer of software solutions and services for the mobility market.

Verizon Wireless customers with certain phones, including the LG enV TOUCH, Samsung Alias and Alias 2, can easily move user-generated photos, and videos from their phones to their personal computers using V CAST Media Manager and a USB cable. Customers can then use V CAST Media Manager to transfer the same content, as well as unprotected music from their PCs to another V CAST Media Manager-enabled handset, ensuring memories are preserved when changing phones, and that content is available for use in other applications.

“Our customers use their wireless phones more and more to capture photos and video of important events and everyday moments, and now V CAST Media Manager will help them preserve and share those memories,” said Kyle Malady, vice president, product development at Verizon Wireless. “This tool is the first step in giving our customers the resources they need to make the most of the multimedia content they create, acquire or store using their wireless devices.”

“Smith Micro is pleased to be engaged with Verizon Wireless to deliver a comprehensive, world class multimedia software solution to power V CAST Media Manager,” said William W. Smith, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Smith Micro Software, Inc. “We are honored to have been selected by Verizon Wireless, one of the world’s pre-eminent communication companies, as it brings the best possible mobile multimedia experience to its customers. Smith Micro views this win as a testament to our capabilities and strategic vision for our mobile and cloud-based media management strategy.”
