iScreen Corporation

iScreen Corporation, a leading value-added mobile service provider, today announced the launch of an eBook application for BlackBerry smartphones.  The eBook application from iScreen offers more than 1,000 Chinese works of fiction and comics for BlackBerry smartphone users to download, making it the first-of-its-kind offering. David Chou, General Manager of iScreen commented, “eBook is a popular topic in Taiwan and we have seen strong market demand to use eBooks on handsets, such as BlackBerry smartphones. We are glad to develop an eBook application for BlackBerry smartphones, which provides customers an ease-to-use, convenient and eco-friendly way to enjoy reading.”

Features of the iScreen eBook application for BlackBerry smartphones include:

  • Multiple Reading Modes: Text can be presented vertically or horizontally to cater for both Chinese and western styles. Users can also switch to a full-screen reading mode.
  • Bookmarks: An electronic bookmark allows users to continue reading from where they’ve left off.
  • Personalized Text and Backgrounds: Users can personalize the reading page by adjusting the font size and color, line and character spacing, and background color.
  • Jump-to Function: The function allows users to jump to the cover, the table of contents, the first or last page or specify a particular page they would like to read.
  • Reminders: Shows tips and tricks to use the app, as well as the current page number.

iScreen Corporation has engaged in the research and development of eBooks for over two years, making them one of the pioneers in the industry. In 2008, iScreen was the first service provider to launch comics for smartphones and handsets in Taiwan with Taiwan Mobile. In 2009, iScreen took a further step further by adding popular fiction to its catalog.

The eBook application from iScreen is available for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 and BlackBerry Storm smartphones. BlackBerry subscribers from Taiwan Mobile will be able to download the app from Taiwan Mobile’s catch portal (www.catch.net.tw) on January 18.  The eBook application is free of charge and each book or comic will cost NT10 to NT50*.
