A cell phone is not just a phone, a communication device. It is more of an expression device. It is a way of telling the world who we are, and what we do, and how we do it. In 2009, lots of cell phone came and lots of them went out of the market, but on some people drooled over, while, others failed miserably. This is the end of the year, and I am going to review in this article the top 10 cell phones that amazed all of us in 2009.
No. 1: Motorola Droid
If 2008 was for iPhone, 2009 was for Android. Motorola Droid, the Google Android 2.0 based cell phone has stunned the world with its stunning feature, rock-solid design, and its 3.7 inches display. This is a very powerful web surfing and communication device. This phone has a 480 X 854 pixel display that has a pixel-depth of 409,920, whereas, iPhone 3GS offers 153,600 pixels on 480 X 320 pixel display.
No. 2: iPhone 3GS
For a cell phone, iPhone 3GS is a major upgrade to the Apple’s best selling iPhone, as this new cell phone now has features like multimedia messaging, video recording, and voice dialing, the features that we take for granted in other cell phones. The battery life has been improved, and it runs faster than its predecessor. In comparison to Motorola Droid, iPhone 3GS is sleeker. It is 0.40 inch thick, whereas, Droid is 0.56 inch thick. Apple still needs to work on its 3G reception and call quality, if it needs to be number one.
No. 3: LG enV Touch
As the name suggest, LG enV Touch is designed to make people envious of your possession. This phone features dual display, touch-screen interface, QWERT keyboard, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and a full HTML web browser to imitate the web browsing experience of a PC. LG enV Touch is a fully loaded cell phone, and a deserving candidate for No. 3 slot in this list.
No.4: Samsung Omnia II
Samsung Omnia is a fully-loaded cell phone. The phone has a touch-screen interface, accelerometer, a 5.0 megapixel camera, haptic feedback, proximity sensor, and the best in the class multimedia feature. The home screen of the device can be customized using widgets. The video output on the 3.7-inch AMOLED touch display of the phone has taken the world by surprise. This cell phone is really fast, and whoever has looked at Omnia II has fallen for it.
No. 5: Motorola Clique
This is another Android-based cell phone to feature in the top 10 list. The beauty of Motorola Clique will leave every mobile panting. It is sleek, it is curvy, and it is web-savvy. It has both a touch-screen interface, and a slid-out keyboard. The customizable home-screen of Clique helps you stay connected with your friends on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. If it is BlackBerry, it is going to be good and exciting. Ask any BlackBerry user and he will confirm you of this. The RIM BlackBerry Storm is another jewel in the crown of this business phone. This is the first touch screen phone in BlackBerry series, and it has no physical keyboard, which has been a trademark of BlackBerry phones. It has an innovative touch screen that provides tactile feedback to confirm your selection. This phone hosts a world-roaming feature, which has been designed keeping business travelers in mind.

Palm once was BlackBerry and then it lost everything that they had: name, reputation as “the business device”. Now, the company is geared up again to take the world. Dominance might not be possible, but the company has managed to make a place in the top 10 cell phone of 2009 list with its multimedia Smartphone, Palm Pre.
This device has a multi-touch touch screen and a sliding keyboard to give you best of the both world. This device is the first cell phone to use webOS, Palm’s new Linux-based operating system. The call quality and web browsing capability of the device is at par with the best in the category. This is a very classy little Smartphone that offer 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS connectivity.

Thanks to its sleek design, brilliant display, optical trackpad, RIM BlackBerry Bold has become the second BlackBerry to make into the list of top 10 cell phones of 2009. It has faster processor and it runs on BlackBerry 5.0 OS. This is the first BlackBerry device to have 3G support. Some people believe it is the sleekest BlackBerry of all time. On this, all I have to say is this: with this, BlackBerry has become a little more useful.
No. 9: LG Vu
This is sweet. This is sleek. This is sexy. Yes, I am talking about LG Vu. It has all the features required to be at number 9 of the top 10 cell phones of 2009. The sleek black design, 3-inch display, haptic feedback, full HTML browser, Quad-band support makes this cell phone very desirable. In look, it resembles its older cousin LG Prada. The phone is any minimalists’ baby.
No. 10: HTC Droid Eris
It was a tough decision to put a HTC phone and that too HTC Droid Eris on number 10 in the list, but seeing the kind of phones that came in 2009, the decision seemed effortless. This has all the sleek feature of a HTC Phone, but it just looks like an upgraded version of HTC Hero. The device runs on Android 1.5, which is not the latest Android OS.
