In February we came across the Samsung SGH-i200 mid-range smartphone. The device has now been officially announced, however unlike earlier speculation, it seems that it will come with the latest version of Windows Mobile – version 6.1 and not 6.0. The thin device looks to have the aim of converting the average feature phone user to a full-on smartphone fanatic. The compact device has a whole array of features including including HSDPA support, 2.3-inch QVGA screen, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and a host of MS Office mobile applications that will help you get your work done while you are on the move. Also, the i200’s novel “light sensor” ensures that users lower their power consumption by adjusting the lightness of the LCD and the keypad automatically. The downside is that there is not WiFi.
No pricing info at the moment. The i200 will hit Europe in June and will make its way into other markets within a month.
