Dell Plans Its Own Smartphone to land in next month
Analysts are reporting that PC manufacturer Dell could be revving up its message machine to announce, not a new netbook, but the company’s first-ever smart phone. The news is a bit of a shocker considering the competitiveness of the smart phone market right now. Dell could be unveiling its own branded smartphone as early as next month. Analysts are reporting that Dell has the new smartphone ready and if it proves accurate this will be the first Dell branded smartphone ever. We can assume that any smartphone Dell fields will offer up the features that customers are used to in today’s market. Namely, it would likely be a touchscreen device with the capability to browse the Internet, send text messages and other features. The real question is what OS will the handset run? Would it be another Windows Mobile handset or will Dell possibly chose to go more open source with Google Android power. Another big factor will be the mobile service the handset is tied to. You can bet an iPhone competitor won’t likely be offered via AT&T. My money says we are looking at a Windows Mobile device.
