BlackBerry Storm 2 confirmed by RIM’s co-CEO
Research In Motion is planning a next-generation version of its touchscreen BlackBerry Storm smartphone as part of a continuing push into the retail market, its co-CEO said on Monday. The company’s co-CEO Jim Balsillie while talking about the BlackBerry Storm, said, “That product was a huge success in terms of sales and adoption,” reports Reuters. In addition, the co-CEO also stated that sales of the device remained strong, which drove the company towards considering the further development of the line, though he gave no specific details on the upcoming Storm 2 (if this is going to be the actual name of the phone).
The news comes as retail research group npd found that the BlackBerry Storm was the third most popular smartphone in the US for the first quarter of the year coming in behind the iPhone and RIM’s 2-year old BlackBerry Curve.
