ATT to purchase Farmers Wireless from Alabama
The rumor came out during December,2007 that ATT plans to purchase another small local GSM carrier called Farmers Wireless in NE Alabama and. First some background about Farmers wireless. Farmers Wireless is a very community orientated business and been in the business for more then 15 years. Customers usually love its service since they can change plans, add services, even change address without renewing contract as Verizon Wireless and others mandate. Coverage of Farmers Wireless is very very limited which stayes within 50 miles of redius. They own a (very small) GSM network in Alabama. Now the rumor, as a test we called a farmers wireless store and asked for an iPhone then they said “wait till summer and you will get it” and there is a huge talk going on at the Howard Forums. Usually once the words go out, they come out true and especially when the employees talk about it. What we know that the meger will happen around the summer,2008. We still dont know how much will att spend for this rumored merger as well as all the bebifits. All i can think of is att will get some more customers from Farmers wireless.
