Canadian texters in 2nd Annual LG Canadian Texting Championship will compete for $25,000 in cash and prizes
Today LG Electronics Canada announced further details about the 2nd Annual LG Canadian Texting Championship finals, to be held in Toronto on Monday, June 29th. The LG Texting Championship finals will take place at Canada’s busiest intersections Yonge-Dundas Square, and will provide texting champion hopefuls one final opportunity to take the stage for a chance to win up to $25,000 in cash and prizes. After two months of preliminary trials, Facebook competitions and online battles, more than 20,000 Canadians have registered for their spot in the final competition. All but one of the final contestants have been selected, including two regional qualifiers chosen from British Columbia, the Midwest Region, Ontario and the Eastern Region. One walk-on spot will be determined the morning of the event. Yonge-Dundas Square will be outfitted with a Texting Arcade, where contenders can compete between 9:00-11:45am to take that final spot as well as other prizes, which will be handed out throughout the day. The LG Canadian Texting Championship is free and open to the general public. The event kicked off in Toronto on March 16, 2009 at the Eaton Centre. From there, the regional qualifying tournaments continued around the country, returning to Toronto on June 29, 2009 where finalists will compete for up to $25,000 in cash and prizes, including a $5,000 trip for two from Canada’s largest student leisure travel company Breakaway Tours and a sleek Tissot watch.
