Wireless network using balloons to be built by Google?

Google is thinking out of the box to build a wireless network using balloons! The system would work in a very interesting manner indeed: a large area composing of thousands of square miles can be covered by attaching transceivers to a balloon and launching it in the upper atmosphere. Thus, cell towers are made redundant. In the present time, this technology is actually in use to enable cellphone coverage in areas where the signals from the towers are blocked by obstacles such as hills or mountains. In order to create such a wireless network, Google is has purportedly expressed interest in either buying the balloon wireless company Space Data or in becoming its partner. Considering the interest Google has in the mobile industr, the implications and possibilities are endless.
