Wisconsin Senate Passes Bill to Ban Texting While Driving

The Senate of the US state of Wisconsin has passed two bills which affect using a mobile phone while driving. The first bill bans the use of mobile phones while driving a bus, which mirrors laws passed in several US states. The second bill would impose a ban on all motorists sending text messages while driving, although voice calls would still be permitted. However, the bills still need to pass the Assembly to become law, and there is no schedule in the Assembly’s calendar for them to be debated before the annual session ends this week. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two comprise the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin.
