Vodacom CEO, Alan Knott-Craig has confirmed reports that he plans to step down from the company in September, but will remain as a consulting CEO until the end of the 2009 financial year. No sucessor has been named, although Vodacom chairman Oyama Mabandla says this should happen shortly. It could be that the new CEO won’t be named until the confusion about the eventual ownership of the company is sorted out - presumably in Vodafone’s favour. The announcement was made as the company announced net profit for the 12 months to the end of March rose 21% to $1 billion and revenue rose 17% to 2 billion. Mr Knott-Craig has served as CEO of Vodacom since 1993 and Chief Executive Officer of Vodacom Group since October 1996. Prior to 1993, Mr Knott-Craig was Senior General Manager of Mobile Communications at Telkom until 1993, when he left to form Vodacom
