Juniper Research’s new analysis predicts that up to 12% of the global DSL installed base will be substituted with WiMAX by 2013. The Far East will lead the charge with over a fifth of the 47 million subscribers in 2013.
Juniper Research looked at how WiMAX is good for deployment in many underserved areas in developed as well as developing countries.
Howard Wilcox, the report’s author, suggests that WiMAX will be an attractive option in places where no wired networks exist and in places where the current DSL speeds are not up to par. WiMAX will help to relieve broadband access issues for subscribers located at the outskirts of DSL coverage even in a number of developed nations such as the USA, UK, Scandinavia and Ireland.
