GPS Insight, a leading supplier of GPS tracking hardware and software solutions for commercial and municipal fleets, today announced its new SMS text message short code GPS-GPS (477-477). Using true SMS technology, GPS Insight continues to deliver rapid, guaranteed, and unique capabilities to their customer base using cell phone text messaging technology.

Robert Donat, President of GPS Insight, explained that, “Using 477477, our customers can easily and instantly find out where a vehicle is, set up an alert when a vehicle moves or arrives somewhere, determine the closest vehicles to an address, customer, or vehicle, and much more. Our SMS implementation also allows for easy messaging to and from dispatch, as well as ‘SMS Notes’ which allow drivers to comment on their activity for inclusion in a stop report. Unlike email-based text messaging and alerts, our customers do not need to know the wireless carrier for each cell phone number, which is impractical for large implementations.”

In addition to SMS capabilities, GPS Insight offers “mobile maps” which allow most modern cell phones to see a fleet’s current position and status.

GPS Insight chose Cellit as their SMS partner, and has been working with members of the Cellit team for over 4 years, and now has its own simple GPS-GPS (477-477) dedicated short code.
