Voter lethargy is a problem for most democratic nations and, while we love our technology, most countries still require that you trudge to your local voting station to vote for whatever politician has lied to you best. Estonia, however, is planning to overcome the problem with a very ambitious plan to let voters text in their votes via mobile phones. And it’s not just a concept as Parliament has approved a law that will make Estonia the first country to allow voting via SMS in the 2011 elections.
