A new study for the global opportunities for WiMAX 802.16e to deliver “local loop” broadband connectivity, suggests that WiMAX will start to take off between 2009 and 2011. subscriber number should go beyond 47 million by 2013.

In a region-by-region study, Juniper Research found that there is a great chance for WiMAX to now emerge as a substitute for DSL technology. The study also looked in to how WiMAX is well suited to be quickly setup in many underserved areas, in developed countries as well as in developing nations.
