We wonder if this is the real 3G iPhone. Honestly speaking, there is very little chance that this is a leaked shot of the upcoming 3G iPhone as Apple’s lawyers have an excellent track record at cutting down any rumors that have an inkling of truth in them. What we think is that this is a very ingenious mod (or a Photoshopped photo of a very ingenious mod) where the aluminum and black plastic back panel has been replaced with a molded single piece.
Another explanation could be that this is a real future iPhone. This could be the budget handset that Gene Munster, PiperJaffray analyst, had suspected was on. This could help clear up why the device in the picture comes with 8GB of storage space.
It is hard to guess at this point which explanation is true. We will keep you posted as we learn more.
