Impact of techology on football being looked at by Orange

Orange Future of Football Report is of the opinion that that technology will infiltrate soccer sooner rather than later. The potentially applicable areas for mobile technology to be utilized are as follows:

• Players being communicated to on the field via mobile receiving devices they are wearing
• Pitches loaded with sensors to track trajectory (obviously important for things like a ball crossing the lines or not for that matter)
• Seat Technology ( like a PDA inset) to gives fans TV-like alternative angles, and the obvious revenue stream of ordering food/drink/merchandise to where they are seated

But despite all that, the FA has stated that they want to maintain the ‘integrity’ of the beautiful game, and also added that as far as developments go, they are looking forward to goalmouth technology, and pilot schemes are already being tested upon deployment.
