Apple Reported Planning a “nano” iPhone for Christmas

Apple is reported to be planning to launch a “nano” version of the iPhone handset just before Christmas. In a very short article, The Mail on Sunday newspaper, citing an unnamed industry source says that the phone would be launched by O2, which has the current exclusive rights to the iPhone in the UK on PrePay tariffs for £150 (US$300). The report was limited to commenting on the UK market and made no mention of the USA, or other markets. PrePay tariffs are not hugely popular in the USA though, which could justify a decision to launch such a possible product in Europe first. Apple traditionally holds a small media event in September to announce new products - so if the report from the newspaper is correct that is when we can expect a formal announcement.
