iPhone cravers in France look set to get a price cut on the current generation iPhone. Reports suggest that Apple is working with Orange France to grant subsidies for the iPhone. Right now, Orange is not allowed to give any purchase subsidies for the iPhone. However with lots of iPhone in stock and the imminent unveiling of the 3G iPhone, there is a good chance that things will change.

Reportedly, Tim Cook, the COO of Apple, met Orange executives in California to discuss possible price reductions for the iPhone. Introducing a subsidy on the iPhone will mean that the revenue sharing agreement between Apple and Orange will have to be re-examined.

However with iPhone prices dropping in Germany and the UK, it would seem unfair to Orange if Apple does not let them grant subsidies for the iPhone in France.
